ROLE PURPOSE:
To lead and direct the Operations function to ensure a reliable high quality network service is provided to customers.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
To provide leadership to the Operations team in order to ensure the VSA strategy is embraced and executed.
To ensure the region achieves all set network quality targets.
To ensure the region meets set rollout targets without compromising network quality.
To come up with strategies to reduce cost of the network rollout and operational network efficiencies. To ensure the region has sound network capacity plans end to end i.e., RAN, Core, Access TX and Core TX.
To provide guidance in rollout of new technologies such as 5G/LTE, ensuring zero negative impact on network quality and revenue.
To play a leading role in ensuring a culture of Health, Safety and Environment is inculcated in the region.
To come up with strategies to reduce network operational budget costs (OPEX).
To create a commercial awareness within the Operations team and to ensure the team is aligned to the Commercial objectives of the region.
To ensure there is succession planning and development across all functions and levels whilst adhering to the VSA Recruitment Strategy.
To cultivate a culture of innovation within the Operations team.
To ensure seamless coordination of customer care queries and resolutions.
To create long term plans for a sustainable end to end network capacity and reliability.
To set up, manage and monitor the expenditure of project Capex and the Opex budget for the region, relating to Network rollout and maintenance.
To manage telecommunication property, such as Data Centres, BSC/RNC, Transmission, sites etc
To liaise and negotiate with all local authorities, local government, corporate bodies and businesses, which may affect the technical working environment of the region.
To contribute directly to the bottom-line by managing and ensuring that the availability and congestion of the Network is kept to the lowest possible limits.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR THIS ROLE WILL HAVE:
Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering (light current)
PGDip (Business Management) or MBA would be advantageous.
8 – 10 years’ experience in Operations within a telecommunication network operator in at least 2 of the following operational functions:
Radio Planning & Optimisation
Network Performance Management
Operation Maintenance in Radio and Transmission Network
EXPERIENCE
At least 8- 10 years operational and management experience in the relevant operational environment (Essential)
Able to work in a fast paced, stressful, ever- changing environment.
5 years in coordinating with various stakeholders and managing delivery against targets meeting customer expectations.
Proven track record in a leadership role and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Working hours will be irregular.
